About 18K Gold
18 karat gold is 18 parts gold to 6 parts alloy, a purity of 75%. It is the standard for European and luxury jewellery: a richer colour than 14K, and still hard enough for daily wear with reasonable care.
You will usually see it stamped 18K, 18KT or 750. The 18KT gold price per gram is the same as the 18K gold price because both marks indicate 75% gold. The 750 fineness stamp also means exactly 75% gold.
White, yellow and rose 18K all contain the same fine gold; only the alloy differs. Because three quarters of the weight is gold, 18K scrap is worth about 29% more per gram than 14K.

We take the live XAU/USD spot price per troy ounce, divide it by 31.1034768 to get the price of one gram of pure gold, then multiply by the purity of the karat you selected: 0.5833 for 14K, 0.75 for 18K, and so on.
18K gold is 75% pure by weight. The remaining 25% is alloy, copper, silver, nickel or palladium, with negligible resale value. You are paid for the fine gold content, not the total weight of the item.
